Exposition

The main character in this story is Nicole Darwin, Nicole has low self esteem because in the beginning of the story she says she's a loser or atleast feels like that's how she is. Her mood is depressing and sad. She explains this by saying "Even the beautiful spring weather we've been having the red and yellow tulips bobbing in the soft, warm breezes, the fresh smell of new curly grass---can't cheer me up. My life is the worst"
